Taco Tuesday and a small 5 game slate on the side today. Let’s get it.
NY @ DET (-7) o/u 220
NY: For at least the time being it seems Kanter may be in the rotation. Again, Fizdale has been inconsistent all year so play Knicks at your own risk. Vonleh came back down to Earth last game, but still played 31 minutes. Mudiay and Burke both had decent games and didn’t really move in price. If we look at matchups I would think Vonleh and Kanter would get the start again to face off with Drummond and BG. If that is the case both are in play. Hardaway hasn’t had a great shooting night in a few games, but he’s still seeing huge minutes and still has the upside.
Tier 1: Kanter (GPP), Vonleh, Burke (GPP), Mudiay
Tier 2: Hardaway (GPP), Trier
DET: Lot to like from Detroit here in this beatable matchup with New York. We know Kanter doesn’t play much defense so Drummond could be in for a huge night. Vonleh is a decent defender, but BG still has the upside to pay off a 9.3k salary. Reggie Jackson has played well of late and shouldn’t have a problem continuing that trend against the likes of Mudiay and Burke as long as he gets the minutes. Bullock is seeing 30+ minutes consistently now so he’s worth a look at his 4.1k salary.
Tier 1: Drummond, Jackson
Tier 2: BG, Bullock
Tier 3: Johnson, Ish, Galloway
ATL @ MIA (-7.5) o/u 224
ATL: John Collins has jumped up to $6200 after his coming out party last game. It seems he is locked into 30 minutes for now so that limits his upside somewhat. Trae played well against the Heat once already this year and could do so again as long as they keep this game competitive. If he struggles then Lin will get extended minutes in his place. Bembry is intriguing a bit as he has outplayed Prince the last couple games. If Prince struggles again we could see another Bembry game. Bazemore still has 40+ fantasy point upside here, but he is very boom or bust and should be limited to GPPs.
Tier 1: John Collins (GPP), Trae (GPP)
Tier 2: Bembry, Baze (GPP)
Tier 3: Dedmon
MIA: Dragic is listed as out in the game notes for this match so I am considering him out as of now. Richardson is locked into big minutes and has a nice matchup here with the Hawks. Wade went off last game, but I don’t expect him to play up again for the lowly Hawks. Whiteside is dealing with some knee tendinitis so keep an eye on that. This is a great matchup for him in a spot that he shouldn’t be highly owned as long as he gets the minutes. Bam has played well the last two games in his stead though so if Whiteside shows any signs of injury I think they turn to him quickly. Winslow is intriguing too with his minutes around 30 over the last couple.
Tier 1: Richardson
Tier 2: Whiteside (GPP), Winslow, McGruder, Bam (GPP)
Tier 3: Ellington
TOR @ MEM (+4.5) o/u 205
TOR: Tough matchup here on both sides of the ball in a low scoring defensive affair. I am not interested in much at all here. I think Jonas will most likely get the start again to go against Gasol, but still I’ll pass on that. Kawhi if you want can still get his and he should be low-owned so that’s a plus if you don’t want to pay up for Lebron.
Tier 2: Lowry, Siakam
Tier 3: Leonard, Jonas, Ibaka
MEM: A bit more appeal on this side of the ball. Gasol should be able to still dominate Jonas or Serge inside and out here. JJJ is also relatively cheap and as long as he stays out of foul trouble has lots of upside. Conley has a tough matchup and I think I’ll avoid him in this one when I can pay down for Lonzo or up for Booker. Still with the low total and tough matchup everyone is going to be Tier 2 plays for me.
Tier 2: JJJ (GPP), Gasol, Green, Conley
Tier 3: Anderson
LAL @ DEN (-4) o/u 215
LAL: Zo is too cheap here. He seems to always play up for this matchup and is my favorite point guard in this slate today. Lebron is also firmly in play here as the highest priced player in this slate. He should get plenty of minutes in a competitive game with Lyles and Juancho trying to guard him. Pope is getting minutes in the low 20s now and is worth a look as a punt. Hart is losing minutes in the rotation for the time being while Kuzma has been struggling of late yet still getting minutes and is affordable. McGee and Chandler can be avoided until their prices come down for me.
Tier 1: Lonzo, LBJ
Tier 2: Kuzma, Ingram, Pope
Tier 3: Hart (GPP), Stephenson (GPP)
DEN: If Harris is out then Murray becomes a nice play even at the elevated price. Craig and Beasley are both min priced and worth a punt on of you need it. Again that’s only if Harris is out. I really like Plumlee here. He is trending up and even in limited time he should be able to reach value. Jokic has not been aggressive of late so if we get the lacksadasical Joker tonight it will only boost his upside. I’m not super high on the Joker here, but centers do play well against the Lakers and he could have a big night if motivated.
Tier 1: Plumlee, Murray (if Harris is out), Harris (GPP)
Tier 2: Joker, Murray (if Harris plays), Millsap
IND @ PHO (+2.5) o/u 217
IND: Pacers are without Dipo again in this one so Turner, Sabonis, and Collison should all get a bump. Cory Joseph should get more run too, but with him actually more expensive than Collison I’ll take the latter. Evans hasn’t exactly done the most with his opportunity here, but he still needs a look against the Suns.
Tier 1: Turner (GPP), Collison
Tier 2: Evans, Sabonis, Thad, Bojan
PHO: Booker should be in line for another start at point guard. That bumps up my appeal for him here. Add that to Dipo being out and this should set up for another good game for him. Warren was ejected last game and is still relatively cheap so we can go right back to him. Ayton has some intrigue, but I’d rather save the $300 and take Kanter more often than not.
Tier 1: Booker, Warren
Tier 2: Ayton
Tier 3: Ariza
Good talk and good luck
